HamSphere News – HamSphere Remotes (HR) Reopening
After a period of evaluation and improvements, the HamSphere Remotes (HR) system is now reopening. During the extended testing phase we gathered valuable data on how the system was being used. It became clear that the system was sometimes used in ways that were not aligned with its original purpose of encouraging active HF-style operation and fair shared access. To address this, the HR framework has been refined and strengthened, including improved booking management and enforcement of operating rules. The updated system promotes active QSOs, fair usage, and responsible operation so that the HR network benefits the entire HamSphere community. The reopening begins with a controlled first phase of five active remote transceivers: 261HR1 - Chatham Islands, New Zealand 90HR1 - Crete, Greece 312HR1 - Moldova 107HR1 - Monte Carlo, Monaco 75HR1 - São Miguel Island, Azores, Portugal HR Hour System Access to HR stations is managed through the HR Hour system to ensure fair availability for all operators. Operators use HR hours when booking and operating a remote station A 4-hour separation rule applies between bookings to ensure equal access Active and responsible operation helps keep the system running smoothly How to Get More HR Hours You can increase your available HR hours in three ways: HR Referrals Invite fellow operators to join and start using the HR system. Performance Rewards Active operation such as answering CQs and maintaining strong QSO activity can automatically reward you with bonus HR hours. Purchase HR Hours Additional HR hours can be purchased instantly if you want to continue operating without interruption. The HR concept remains an important part of the HamSphere ecosystem, and this reopening marks the start of a new and more structured phase for remote operation. We look forward to hearing you on the bands. Link to the remotes: https://hamsphere.com/remote 73 HamSphere Team |
