Apple Silicon Mac users experiencing JET Runtime crashes after a macOS update.
This remedy targets: HamSphere 5 for Mac running on Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3, M4, etc.) where the current Intel version of HamSphere is executed through Apple's Rosetta 2 compatibility system. Typical symptoms are: HamSphere starts normally but crashes after a few seconds or minutes. An "Unrecoverable Error" or "JET Runtime" error appears. HamSphere previously worked correctly before a macOS upgrade, particularly after upgrading to macOS Tahoe. The crash may also occur while HamSphere is simply running idle. Remedy: Close HamSphere completely. Open Terminal on the Mac. Terminal can be found under: Applications > Utilities > Terminal Enter the following command exactly: /usr/sbin/softwareupdate --install-rosetta --agree-to-license Press Enter and wait for the process to finish. You may see informational or package-authoring messages during the process. The important result is that the installation finishes successfully, for example: Install of Rosetta 2 finished successfully Restart the Mac. Do not skip the restart. After the Mac has restarted, launch HamSphere normally and test it for an extended period. What this does: The current HamSphere 5 Mac desktop application is an Intel application. On Apple Silicon Macs, macOS uses Rosetta 2 to run Intel applications. Following some macOS upgrades, the existing Rosetta 2 installation or translation environment may cause the older HamSphere JET Runtime to become unstable. Reinstalling or refreshing Rosetta 2 and then restarting the Mac can restore correct operation. This procedure does not reinstall HamSphere, does not change the HamSphere account, does not remove plugins or settings, and does not affect subscriptions or purchased equipment. It refreshes the macOS compatibility component used to execute the Intel HamSphere application. If HamSphere continues to produce a JET Runtime or Unrecoverable Error after performing these steps, please contact HamSphere Support and include the Mac model, Apple processor type (M1/M2/M3/M4), macOS version, and the error report if available. |
