G'day friends

After a number of months now, I have to say the "new" HS5 is for the birds. I've made perhaps a total of 3 QSOs all these months,
and whenever I do scan the bands, no traffic is heard, even during contest times.

I miss the old HS3 and even 4, but as of today i'm throwing in the towel and will not renew my subscription.

Well I did in fact renew my subscription and have actually made some QSO's, albeit almost exclusively on 6m and the repeater bands. I'm hoping this will improve as time goes on. I still miss the greater traffic as experienced with HS3 and sincerely hope it is reintroduced - it was a great tool to introduce people into the hobby.

I think that I've had an account for about 14 years and have only about 6 QSO's in the log. On "real radio," I've had many thousands of contacts in that same time. Part of the reason is that the activity here is quite low. Another is that the current sunspot cycle on the "non-virtual" bands continues to make DX readily available.

I appreciate what the developers have done, and I don't want HS 5.0 to be like the six-meter band here, which appears to be a glorified chat room. I suppose more of us just need to get on and call CQ so that the bands will not be so empty. To some degree, lack of activity feeds itself when we aren't active ourselves. 73, Rick, KQ4Y
